  The Helpful Features of Textbooks

  Textbooks are books that students use in schools. Students at all levels and in all kinds of schools use textbooks. They have certain features in common—features that can help students find and understand the information in them.

  All textbooks have tables of contents at the beginning. The tables of contents list the chapter titles, the parts of the chapters,and the page numbers of the parts. These sections are divided again into smaller parts with headings and subheadings. Finally, most textbooks have an index at the back of the book. The index lists all the topics in the book in alphabetical order, and gives their page numbers.

  These are the features of most textbooks, which help students find and understand the information in textbooks quickly and efficiently.

  文章一開(kāi)頭用定義法給教材下了個(gè)定義。接下來(lái)具體說(shuō)明教材的主要特征。最后一段與第一段相呼應(yīng),并重復(fù)和強(qiáng)調(diào)了幾個(gè)關(guān)鍵詞中的關(guān)鍵詞,比如textbooks,information等。

  第四節(jié)圖表作文

  圖表作文要求考生用文字材料把圖表中所提供的信息準(zhǔn)確、完整地表達(dá)出來(lái)。在寫(xiě)作圖表作文時(shí),首先要仔細(xì)觀察并分析圖表,以及題中所給出的有關(guān)信息,比如,作文題,英文提綱、英文提示、英語(yǔ)關(guān)鍵詞等。在分析圖表時(shí),要抓住與主題有關(guān)的信息,要發(fā)現(xiàn)數(shù)據(jù)呈現(xiàn)的規(guī)律,要充分利用圖表中的圖形、數(shù)據(jù)等去說(shuō)明主題。但是注意不要過(guò)多地引用數(shù)據(jù),以免造成濫用數(shù)據(jù)的后果。另外,在寫(xiě)作圖表作文時(shí)可以套用一些常用詞匯或表達(dá)方式,這將有助于你寫(xiě)出較為地道的圖表作文。例如:

  ①As can be seen from the table (graph, form) that...

  ③A careful study of the table shows that...

 、躎he number (percentage) is 3 times as much as that in 2000.

  Changes in People’s Diet

  As can be seen in the table, there have been great changes in people’s diet in the past five years. Grain used to be the Chinese main food, but now it is playing a less important role in peoples diet, while the consumption of some highenergy foods, such as milk and meat, has increased steadily.

  What caused these changes? I think the reasons are as follows: First,the open policy brings the people opportunities to earn a lot of money.Second,people nowadays pay more attention to the structure of their diet.They are seeking the most reasonable diet structure, which will do good to their health.

  From the above, we can see that,with the development of the country,the level of the Chinese people’s life has changed in the past five years.I’m sure there will be greater changes in the future.

  文中第一句話就明確告訴讀者這篇作文是一篇圖表作文。接下來(lái)根據(jù)圖表分析了在過(guò)去的五年中人們的飲食結(jié)構(gòu)都發(fā)生了哪些變化,最后預(yù)測(cè)將來(lái)人們的生活水平還會(huì)發(fā)生更大的變化。盡管在這張圖表中有很多數(shù)據(jù),但作者并沒(méi)有過(guò)多地引用這些數(shù)據(jù),而是通過(guò)數(shù)據(jù)把要說(shuō)明的問(wèn)題點(diǎn)了出來(lái)。
